if I set up a community for fundraising for bcx? This way I don't have to cross post between the 3 different communities and people who don't want to read don't have to. It would also mean people who had ideas could post them into the community.

I'm X posting this between my lj, and the bookcrossing and bcx pages again.

Anyone remember when FutureCat and Otakuu went to London? Well, I got an email from FC last night saying she was super busy organising the Christchurch Convention but that she had promised Skyring that she would organise a Dutch BCer to come to Christchurch to promote their convention in 2010, and asking me if I would like to take over from her. And I said yes.

Of course, today, I realise I have absolutely no experience doing fundraising or anything like that, and so desperately need ideas for ways to raise money to get a Dutch BookCrosser to Christchurch next year. So please, please, please, I'm begging you, if you have any ideas, anything at all, please feel free to throw them at me, no matter how crazy they are (we are all crazy remember!).

The Bush Administration is quietly trying to redefine "abortion" to include birth control. The Houston Chronicle says this could wipe out dozens of state laws that protect women's reproductive freedom and protect rape victims. And this proposed "rule change" doesn't need congressional approval.

I [Buffra] just signed a message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, whose department is considering this rule change, telling him: "Contraception is NOT abortion."

Can you add your voice to this cause? Click here to sign the message: http://pol.moveon.org/contraception/?r_by=-9958114-vsEmWJx&rc=paste

Thanks!

[added note from me: I can't sign it cos I'm not from the USA but if you are, please sign it on my behalf!!]

Grandma's Ginger Biscuits:

125 grams of butter
250 grams of sugar (1 cup)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon of golden syrup

Cream these all together. If you don't have an electric mixer, I've found that grating the butter makes it a lot easier!

Add:
250 grams of flour (2 cups)
3 level teaspoons of ginger
2 rounded teaspoons of mixed spice
1 rounded teaspoon of baking powder
1 level teaspoon of baking soda

Mix.

Roll into balls

DO NOT FLATTEN!!

Bake at 180 degrees celcius (350 Fahrenheit) for 15 minutes.

lol I just read you are supposed to grease the tray, but I usually just cover the tray with tin foil and thats fine! And they do spread out quite a lot so don't put the balls too close together!
